Concept

The main goal in developing Selle Logica saddles was to increase comfort. We wanted to build a performance saddle that could be ridden for long hours comfortably.  To improve comfort we set out to reduce pressure and reduce numbness.

When researching saddles it becomes apparent that saddle bases do not match human anatomy (see images below).  This forces other manufacturers to use extra foam to reduce pressure points.  Too much foam is not good.  The saddle become bulky and the extra foam can cause numbness by putting pressure on too many areas..

Selle Logica saddle bases match the natural shape of the body.  This allows your body weight to be distributed over a larger surface area.  Because the shape matches you better, less foam is needed.  Our foam pads are designed with a varying thickness.  There is foam only where it is needed.  Thicker in the high pressure areas (Sit Bones and  Perineum) and thinner is less sensitive areas.

Our research has produced a light weight, performance saddle with much less pressure/numbness than ordinary performance saddles.  For the rider, this translates to a more comfortable ride.
